There’s something incredibly meaningful about witnessing two people recommit themselves to one another through a convalidation ceremony. I recently had the honor of photographing a heartfelt and intimate convalidation at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Phoenix, and it was a truly unforgettable day.

What is a Convalidation Ceremony?


For those unfamiliar, a convalidation ceremony is when a couple who is already civilly married has their marriage recognized by the Catholic Church. It’s both a spiritual and emotional moment — not just a formality, but a renewal of vows before God, family, and community. Photographing a convalidation offers the opportunity to capture both the sacred traditions of a Catholic wedding and the deep, personal love story that has already grown between two people.

The Ceremony at Corpus Christi Catholic Church


Corpus Christi Catholic Church is a stunning and welcoming parish in Phoenix, known for its beautiful architecture, warm natural light, and peaceful atmosphere — the perfect setting for such a special celebration. As the couple stood before the altar, surrounded by their closest family and friends, the emotion in the room was palpable. Every glance, smile, and prayer felt deeply intentional and full of love.

A Blend of Tradition and Intimacy


Unlike larger traditional weddings, this convalidation ceremony had an intimate feel — focused more on the spiritual significance and the couple’s shared journey. There were no elaborate decorations or flashy details — just the raw beauty of their connection, the sacrament, and the joy of the moment.


From the quiet prayer before the ceremony to the soft light filtering through the stained-glass windows, every moment was a dream to photograph. These images tell a story of faith, recommitment, and enduring love — and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.
