This session was extra special. A husband wanted to surprise his wife with professional pictures of him and the kids for his birthday. The typical husband that is never super excited for family photos, it was a sweet gift idea, and an adorable session.

Turning Chaos into Keepsakes

This session was full of surprises and excitement. Whenever toddlers are involved it's a session full of play and spontaneity, add two and it's double the fun!

Children dancing on a carpet in a room with colorful toys and activity mats scattered around.
Two children sit together in a woven wicker chair surrounded by autumn decorations and fall foliage.

Why aren't most of the photos posed?

I meet my families where they are at - toddlers will pose for a few photos, but they mostly want to play and explore their surroundings. The average toddler does not want you to tell them where to go and what to do with their hands or face! I combine a lot of play with guided posing. This gets the most cooperation out of your toddler and results in adorable, unique shots that bring all of their budding personality into the photos. Maximum memories, minimal tears!

A loving pair shares playful moments with a young child in a sequence of candid photographs on a brown couch.
A romantic wedding scene shows two people sharing an intimate kiss on their special day.
Family members lying down on the floor together and drawing on a large piece of paper spread out before them.

This session took place at the Fall setup (Warm Autumn) at Stone Studios in Mesa. I love shooting at a studio with toddlers because the set ups are interesting to them, the studio space is enclosed, and we can shoot pretty much any time of day to accommodate naps and bedtime. If you're looking for your next family session in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend considering the many studio options available!
